Muhammad Ali

Muhammad Ali was born on January 17, 1942. He was an American boxer. His real name was Cassius Clay Jr.

His famous phrase was “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.”

After he lost a match, he got dispraise: “The butterfly has lost its wing, the bee has lost its sting.”

He put it on the wall and saw it every day. He tried to get his wing and sting back.

  1. Muhammad Ali is still alive, so we should say that his real name "is" Cassius Clay, or else his "former name" was Cassius Clay. I don't know if "Muhammad Ali" is his legal name or not, but I suspect that it is.

  2. Floating like a butterfly and stinging like a bee refer to the nimble, athletic footwork Ali used in the ring. Boxing is not just about punching, but also about protecting, evading, re-positioning. If you stand still you will just be a punching bag for the other guy, no matter how big, heavy or strong you are.
